FROM: gigagon@cyberglobe.net SUBJECT: Re: Eudora 3.0.1 FAQ around? Revisited DATE: 15 Sep 97 23:30:04 GMT Here's a follow-up on the solutions I have found for my own questions that i posted a few days earlier. I am hoping this will answer others that were in the same place as I was. 1. I heard Eudora not supports multiple POP3. How do I do this, without having to go into the [Tools][Options][Getting Started] each time to change the POP3 to check for newmail? This is done easily with [Tool][Options][Personalities][New] and then you enter the alias you want to name your second POP3 account. Fill in the [POP3] account with login@pop3.anywhere.com. This is all you need to do. Now, when you are reading an email that you received from this POP3, and you reply to it, you do not necessarily need to have your reply outgoing thru that remote POP3 site. Filling in [Return address] and [SMTP server] with your secondary remote POP3 account, would mean all mail you reply would go thru there, but you can still stick in your primary POP3 info that use used in [Getting Started], [Personality Info], and [Hosts]. You can have as many personalities as you wish. The only thing I can see Eudora improve is sort out the incoming newmail into different Inbox'es, as now all personalities will all go into the same global Inbox. 2. How can we make Eudora automatically make a Cc: to your own email address? What I really wanted to do was [Tools][Options][Replying][Automatically Fcc to original mailbox] 3. When replying or forwarding mail, Eudora indents the mail you are replying from with buncha '>', is there a way to turn this off? When you forward/reply with Eudora, the indents of the ">" characters really annoy the hell out of me, especially when the mail gets forwards a multiple geeration of times, and hence "> > > >", just a mess. These can be removed completely by adding one line to your eudora.ini file which is: [Settings] : {lotsa settings info} : ReplyPrefix= Thanks to daniel12@iadfw.net, ken@mango.human.cornell.edu, and atstarr@unix.amherst.edu, that have submitted information and help to me, that I could not have otherwise. ### Newsgroups: comp.mail.eudora.ms-windows Date: Wed, 14 May 1997 15:45:28 -0400 (EDT) From: Ken Simler X-Sender: krs2@mango.human.cornell.edu To: gigagon@cyberglobe.net Subject: Re: Eudora 3.0.1 FAQ around? If you are using Eudora Pro 3.0.1 (not Eudora Light 3.0.1) then you: a. make a stationery file with your address in the Cc: field b. make that your default stationery If you are using Eudora Light 3.0.1 then you still need to insert it manually. > >3. When replying or forwarding mail, Eudora indents the mail you are > >replying from with buncha '>', is there a way to turn this off? Which do you want to turn off, insertion of the original message, or just the '>'? If it's the former, just type Ctrl-a to select the entire message, and start typing your reply/forward. All of the text that was in the window will disappear. If it's the latter, add or modify the entries for ReplyPrefix and QuotePrefix in the .ini file. Details are in the help file under Help / Topics / Reference / Eudora.ini settings file / [Settings] > >If anyone knows, i'd really like a reply. Look for the file "Eudora.ini" and rename it to "eudora.old". Then start up Eudora Pro, re-enter your settings, and see if the problem continues. [If the eudora.ini file doesn't appear, go to View: Options: and click on the "view" tab. Make sure it's set to "Show All Files" and uncheck "Hide MS-DOS File Extensions".] Thank you for your support of Qualcomm's Eudora Software! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eugene Son Technical Support --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You can never get too cool with a name like Eugene" - Jim Carrey
