rnappp.txt revised 970514 Once in a while you might see Win95 pop a message upon using your modem to connect to the internet is something like 'Dial-Up Networking could not negotiate a set of...' bla bla bla, this is usually caused by: 1.Excessive mileage of internet use, 2.Forcing your Dial-Up Networking connection to close and disconnect while a bunch of winsock applications are still open (ie., you leave Eudora, Netscape, IE, I-Phone, Westwood, and a game on WinQuake all opened at the same time you disconnected from your ISP), 3.Corrupted clusters that affected certain areas of the registry or the tcp/ip .vxd and .dll files, 4.A combination of the above. One simple rememdy to this is to go into [Start][Settings][Control Panel] [Add/Remove Programs][Windows Setup][Communications] and remove the Dial-Up Networking. Then go back into it again to reinstall it, then it will ask for you to restart your computer, and then go back into your [Control Panel][Network][Add] and add [Protocols][Microsoft][TCP/IP] and let your computer restart again. For those that have a LAN card in their machines as well, be sure TCP/IP is binded only with the DialUp Adapter, and no other protocols (like NetBEUI or IPX/SPX) are binded to the DialUp Adapter. Now go to your DialUp Networking group window, and remove your ISP's connection icon, and make another new one. After this, everything should be kewl. Good luck, with Win95, you need it. email: gigagon@anime.net Dedicated to serving the 514 montreal area and neighbours ( 5 1 4 ) 9 4 9 - 7 7 8 7 http://www.anime.net/~gigagon/ The Gigagon Corporation (318627-0) Canada
